Iceland Photography Workshop for Women: A Creative Adventure

A SheClicks Iceland team photo, taken on the final day of our adventure.

After a year of planning, myself and Angela Nicholson, founder of SheClicks, finally embarked on our second collaborative workshop - taking 12 incredible women to an incredibly wild and wintery Iceland. This trip was also proudly supported by Inspired Ventures, a helpful, thoughtful team who assist us in planning these incredible trips.

So……

Seven days in February.
Seven days immersed in epic landscapes.

Starting out in Reykjavik, we all gathered and then made our way out into the wild. Waterfalls roaring through winter ice, glaciers stretching endlessly into the distance, stepping inside crystal-blue ice caves, wandering along dramatic beaches, meeting Icelandic horses, and witnessing the Northern Lights - not once, but twice. Those moments where time slows, cameras lower for a second, and everyone just looks. But then our creativity steps back in of course, we are a bunch a photographers - of course!

This experience is always about so much more than the destination. It’s about learning, empowering your creativity, and connecting with like-minded women in a supportive and inspiring environment.

The workshop itself is designed to be immersive but relaxed - combining expert tuition with plenty of time to explore and shoot at a comfortable pace. Whether someone was just starting out or had been taking photos for years, everyone was welcomed exactly where they were at. Different experience levels, different confidence levels, all coming together in a space that was uplifting, encouraging, and genuinely supportive.

That support didn’t just come from myself and Angela - the entire group pulled together. Tips were shared freely, stories swapped, ideas exchanged. What worked, what didn’t, how each person sees the world through their lens. It was collaboration in its truest form, and it’s always one of my favourite parts of these experiences. Also it can’t go unsaid about our guide, Hanna and how she became a SheClicker herself along the way. Hanna was there for us throughout, adapting to the weather conditions, driving us safely from place to place, stopping where she knew we would absolutely love the scenes. You cannot beat local knowledge for hidden waterfalls, thats for sure! Hanna was such a huge part of this, that she will now definitely be a part of ALL future Iceland workshops - thats for sure!

We welcomed women from all over the world, arriving from different countries, backgrounds, and time zones. Getting to spend time with each and every one of them was an absolute joy - learning a little about who they are, what they create, and what brought them to this exact place, at this exact time, for this workshop.

I want to thank every single one of them for showing up so openly and honestly, for embracing the wilds of Iceland, and for allowing this place to be a backdrop for learning, creativity, and growth.

Because this workshop wasn’t just about taking photos - they never really are.
It’s about the friendships, the bonds, the shared moments, and the memories that stay with you long after you’re home. Community, travel, and creativity at its very best. Coming home with full memory cards… and full hearts.

Our Trip Partners

Before I wrap this blog up - I need to let you know about our incredible partners supporting us during this epic adventure!

Iceland Cover

Before we even landed in Iceland, one major thing was taken care of - and it made a huge difference. Through a SheClicks exclusive deal, Iceland Cover provided most of our group with essential winter gear, plus a generous group discount.

Iceland’s weather can be wild, and having the right kit is essential. Instead of buying expensive gear or travelling with bulky coats and boots, our group rented everything we needed - from warm layers and parkas to boots and crampons.

The process was completely stress-free. Our gear was delivered straight to our hotel in Reykjavík and collected again at the end of the trip. Easy, seamless, and no extra luggage to worry about. A quick visit to the shop also meant expert advice and a helpful demo on using crampons properly - invaluable once we were out on icy terrain.

Why it worked so well

  • No need to buy or travel with bulky winter gear

  • Group discount made it more affordable

  • Hotel delivery and collection saved time and effort

  • Everyone stayed warm, comfortable, and confident

Thanks to Iceland Cover, we could focus on what really mattered - exploring, creating, and fully enjoying Iceland without worrying about the weather.

Next up - Extremities

Another highlight of the trip was more of our cold-weather gear. We were all gifted Paradox Waterproof Glovespaired with a merino liner from Extremities, and they were an absolute game-changer in Iceland. Between icy winds, sleet, and sudden downpours, these gloves kept our hands completely warm and dry without ever feeling bulky. Layered with the merino liners, they were comfortable all day long - proof that the right kit really does make all the difference in extreme conditions.

Huge, huge thank you to both Iceland Cover and Extremities for supporting us and ensuring we were comfortable with nothing to worry about in terms of the cold, leaving us to focus on what we were there for… adventure and creativity.
