Three Images, One Very Special Night at the British Photography Awards is coming….

There are some moments in photography that feel a little surreal.

Being shortlisted for the British Photography Awards is one of them!

This year, three of my photographs were shortlisted, which in itself feels like something worth celebrating. To have three very different images recognised amongst so many incredible photographs is something I am genuinely proud of.

The three images couldn't really be more different.

Old Harry From The Deep is a photograph from beneath the surface at Old Harry Rocks - part of my ongoing fascination with photographing the ocean from within it, rather than simply looking at it from the shore.

Morning Rise is an abstract photograph of the sea, concentrating on light, movement and those fleeting moments when the ocean becomes almost unrecognisable.

And then there's Highland Coo, which takes me completely away from the coast and into the Scottish Highlands.

Three photographs. Three very different stories. And all three somehow representing different parts of why I love photography.

Celebrating the shortlist

Being shortlisted also gives me the opportunity to attend the awards gala on 1 November, and I'm really looking forward to it.

Of course, there will be that inevitable anticipation of finding out the winners - and I'll be lying if I said I wasn't curious about what the evening might bring!

But I'm also looking forward to something much bigger than that!

I get to be in a room full of photographers and creatives, celebrating everyone's work and celebrating photography itself.

Photography can sometimes feel like a very solitary pursuit. You spend hours alone waiting for the light, standing in the sea, walking through the landscape or simply noticing something that catches your eye.

Then something like the British Photography Awards comes along and reminds you that you're part of a much bigger community of people who are equally obsessed with making photographs.

That's something I really want to celebrate.

But there's still one vote to go…

These shortlisted photographs, have also been entered into the People's Choice Award, which is decided by public vote.

Voting closes on 15 October 2026.

If you've already voted, thank you. Honestly.

And if you haven't yet, I'd love you to take a look at the shortlisted images and, if you feel these are worthy of the award, please give your vote. But please note you can only vote for one entry per category and I have 2 in the landscapes, so make your choice carefully! :)

After that, everything comes down to the gala on 1 November, when the winners will be announced.

I'll be there, waiting to see what happens - but also simply enjoying being part of it.

Whether one of my photographs wins, receives further recognition, or I simply walk away having been shortlisted alongside so many talented photographers, I'm already incredibly proud.

Because ultimately, that's what I love about photography.

It's about making something that means something to you, putting it out into the world and seeing where it takes you.

And sometimes, it takes you somewhere you never expected.

I'll see you at the gala.
