I’d been impatiently waiting for this wedding ever since my good friends Ashleigh and Josh asked if I would capture their special day.
After shooting for their engagement and getting to play with smoke bombs for the first time, I knew it would be an awesome experience.
As we headed over to the ceremony at St Stephen's, the quaint parish church of Pamphill in Wimborne it was grey and miserable and was spitting with rain. Such a shame as all the days before had been like summer had arrived early. But as usual with the British weather, it can all change in an instant. Even though it was a wet day, that didn’t dampen any spirits and in fact, it was the complete opposite.
I arrived early and met Josh as he arrived, getting ready and adding the finishing touches out at the car. Josh looked incredibly dashing and his suit by Victor Valentine was something very different indeed. Perfect for a bespoke look.
As I captured the guests arriving they all made their way into the venue and got themselves seated in anticipation of the brides arrival. Beautiful flowers by Sarah at Flowers @ 166 lined the pews.
As Ashleigh arrived, I made my way down the entrance to meet her as she got out of the car with the help of her dad. She looked absolutely stunning in her Chameleon dress by Maggie Sottero, hair by Sophie at SLA Couture Hair and make-up by Lauren Pavey; like a princess out of a fairytale.
The couple made their promises to one another surrounded by friends and family and wedding rings were exchanged. The newly-weds made their way out of the church as they were showered in confetti with the guests lining the path. With the weather being so gloomy, I had brought a bridal umbrella with me for Ashleigh to make good use of and the guests were prepared for it too coming armed with umbrellas! We weren’t going to let the rain spoil this happy moment!
After the ceremony we all headed over to Deans Court, an elegant historic house set in ancient gardens, a stone's throw from the centre of Wimborne Minster in Dorset. Ashleigh and Josh had put some serious thought into the venue decorations. Personal touches included a guest book with a photo of the couple on the front and a pick n mix sweet table with photos of the couple as children (which was really cute!).
Everyone mingled and enjoyed a drinks reception with the music playing of the live band before sitting down for afternoon tea. Then it was time for the heartfelt speeches.
The rain held back for a while so we made the most of the opportunity running outside to capture some pictures on the grounds. The gardens at Dean Court are simply stunning and just had to make the most of the location. We worked our way around and grabbed several pictures including some with the added atmosphere of smoke bombs. This was loads of fun, with the assistance of some of Josh’s friends running around ensuring the colours were spread around the couple.
When we headed back into the marquee it wasn’t long before the cake cutting and first dance was underway. Ashleigh and Josh led the way with their first dance, followed by a moment for Ashleigh and her dad.
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Mellor-Pratt! All that’s left is for me to share a selection of my favourites from the day.
Enjoy….. and as always, thank you for reading.
